While NACS actively participates and supports the event, host, Christian Warning skillfully crafts the highly engaging program, tailored to the attendees from leading oil companies and convenience retail companies, invited to register through his extensive network across the D-A-CH region and beyond.
The 2025 program will feature a landmark event: the first-ever European Female Leaders in Convenience Awards. This highly anticipated debut will celebrate exceptional women across Europe for their achievements in leadership, innovation, and business growth. It’s a must-see.
Designed to honor outstanding female leaders from across Europe, these newly established awards will debut in 2025 to recognize excellence in leadership, innovation, and business growth.
The ceremony will take place for the first time on December 3, 2025, as part of The Retail Marketeers Convenience Leaders Convention in Hamburg, Germany, the annual industry gathering for global leaders in the fuel retail sector.
“We are proud to co-launch the first European Female Leaders in Convenience Awards,” explains Dawn Desai, SVP & GM, International Solutions at PDI Technologies. “These awards reflect our values at PDI Technologies. Our global culture fosters diversity and inclusion and values courage, curiosity, and collaboration to create an environment that empowers everyone in the industry.”
Christian Warning, owner of The Retail Marketeers GmbH, adds, “Together with PDI Technologies, we want to recognize female thought leaders in our still predominantly male-dominated industry and encourage companies to support female talent and promote them into top leadership positions, as PDI Technologies exemplifies.”
In this inaugural year, the honorees will be carefully selected by industry experts. Additional details will be shared in the coming months as the program evolves, including details on how to attend the event and ceremony.

Hamburg – German market insights
Hamburg is the largest city in the European Union that is not a capital city. With 1.8 million inhabitants on an area covering over 755 square kilometres, Hamburg is Germany’s second-largest city after Berlin. The city state of Hamburg is one of the 16 federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany. The headquarters of Shell, EG Group, Esso, Jet, Orlen, HEM/Tamoil, Valora and Edeka are amongst other relevant convenience retail and mobility companies located in Hamburg.
The importance of Germany for the petrol station industry becomes clear when comparing fuel sales in 2023 of around 50 million tons (33 million diesel / 17 million petrol) compared to 36 million tons (24 million diesel / 11 million petrol) in the UK.
Since 2010, the number of passenger cars registered in Germany has risen from around 41.7 million to over 49 million vehicles at the start of 2024 (in 2024 France: 45mln and UK: 41mln). The number of purely electric cars has risen from a marginal number of 1,588 units in 2010 to over 1.4 million purely electrically powered cars in 2024. This illustrates the increasing acceptance and penetration of e-mobility. A parallel development was initially observed for hybrid cars, including plug-in variants, which increased from 28,862 units in 2010 to around 2.9 million hybrid cars in 2024. However, the number of new registrations of plug-in hybrid cars in 2023 fell by over 50% compared to 2022.
